Our heritage
Crafting stone to exacting standards
Ideal Stone was established in 2004 by brothers-in-law David Greacen and Raymond Douglas.
Persistence, passion and a commitment to excellent customer service meant that Ideal Stone grew exponentially in those early days and in 2012, Ideal Group was birthed with the acquisition of Douglas Glassworks. This enabled the company to commence manufacturing glass products for commercial and residential clients across Ireland alongside the rapidly growing market for manufactured and natural stone products.
Today, the Ideal Group occupy a 75,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Co. Monaghan. The company has invested heavily in technology including precision digital cutting machines, edge polishing and full CNC capability.

We travel the world in search of the finest granite slabs, hand selected from some of the world’s most famous quarry locations and guaranteed for a lifetime of beauty and durability.
Most of our quartz slabs are sourced in the UK and represent a fusion of natural resources with human expertise to create an engineered stone with incredible versatility of colour and finish, that is also extremely robust with no need to seal.
Nature’s design
Granite is a naturally-occurring igneous rock formed as magma from beneath the earth’s crust rises and cools, trapping layer upon layer of minerals within. These minerals give granite from around the world an array of distinctive colours, ranging from pink through to jet black. The unique character of the stone is revealed during the polishing process.
